This blog is about discipleship to Jesus. My passion is to help people be full on for Jesus, to live their lives fully in his Kingdom joyfully under his rule. I truly believe this is the best way to live and die. I think Jesus holds the key to being truly human.
Gather, Grow, Go refers to the three tasks of making disciples of Jesus. Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” (Mat 28:19-20). The main verb here is ‘make disciples’. That’s what he is asking us to do. The three other verbs tell us the process.
Baptism is more than just about getting wet, it’s about connecting with God, being immersed in who he is. We are to gather with God and with his people. We don’t do discipleship alone. We do it together.
Teaching is more than just knowledge, it’s about learning to do, to observe, to obey. We are to teach people the truth and then we need to train them to put that into practice.
Going is about being intentional. We need to make the effort to move things forward. Christians need to share Jesus with non-Christians. Existing Christians need to disciple new Christians. Mature Christians need to encourage and inspire others to deeper growth.
Lastly, this blog is about grace. While Gather, Grow, Go is the process of making disciples, grace is the means. We enter the Kingdom of God through his grace and his grace sustains us and holds us. It is by God’s grace that we are saved and it is by God’s grace that we mature.
It is my prayer that you will journey with me as we follow Christ and become more like him. Jesus was a man of love. He was firm, he was gentle, he was meek, he was tough. But he was always loving. I invite you to join me in becoming a deeper person of love.
Explore this blog. If you find something useful then put it into practice and pass it on. If you find something you disagree with let me know – I am often wrong and welcome correction. But don’t stand still, at least not for long. Follow Jesus and he will lead you to a better place to be. I pray that this blog helps you in that journey.
